PV fuses 1000 V d.c. for photovoltaic applications 1.small size, light weight 2.According to IEC60269.6 -2010 3.
Our special PV Fuses enable you to protect various aspects of your PV power generation. This can be a string inverters, central inverters or even the modules directly to protect your circuits in combiner boxes. Use of these fuses range from free-standing solar farms, which have high ambient temperatures requirements, to residential installations, where compact size is important.
Our specially developed fuses for photovoltaic systems trip reliably and in the case of minor over currents do not trip prematurely. We have a broad range of products suited for DC voltages as high as 1500 V. This covers almost all of the requirements for PV based power generation.
These Photovoltaic fuses come in small packages while maintaining the necessary critical high voltage rating.
FunctionSOCOMEC PV fuses protect theinstallation against the inverse overcurrentswhich could occur in thephotovoltaic installation.
‹ AdvantagesPerformance• High breaking capacity at 1000 V d.c.• The working range adjusted for smallover-currents specific to PV installations.• Simple, reliable discrimination.Reliability• Fuses are simple and totally sealedproducts which guarantee a long-termprotection without any maintenance.Safety• The energy released during a shortcircuitis contained within the sealed fusecartridge.
‹ What you need to knowUsed Characteristics• ISC : short circuit current of the PV string• ISC MAX : short circuit current of the PV string related to maximum sunlightdensity• IRM : maximum admitted reverse current• In : fuse rating or fuse rated current (at 25°C in a RM disconnect switch)• Nc : number of PV strings in parallel connection• Ue : maximum fuse rated voltage• UOC MAX : maximum open circuit voltage in the lowest temperature conditionsWhen to protectA PV string requires an over current protection when its own maximumadmissible reverse current characteristic (Irm) is less than the current generatedby the rest of the installation (current generated by the “Nc-1” other strings). The protection is obligatory if Nc ≤ 1+ (IRM / ISC)How to protectThe overload protection is to be applied at each of the two polarities, regardless of whether the d.c. installation is earthed or not.‹ How to choose the fuse protectionVoltageUe > UOC MAXIn the absence of complementary information use UOC MAX =1.2 UOC.Fuse rating determinationDetermination of the Fuse Rated Current consists of choosing a protectioncapable of:• supporting without fusing the normal overload current during the periods ofmaximum sunlight density at the ambient temperature of the enclosure inwhich the fuse is installedIn > ISC MAXIn the absence of complementary information use ISC MAX = 1.4 ISC• melting and reliably clearing the fault before the PV modules are damaged bythe reverse currentIn < IRM
