Rotatinal molding accepts molded-in inserts or hardwares very friendly, compared with other plastic molding technologies.
Some rotational mold we have made contains more than 35 molded-in inserts and hardwares. With so many inserts be to mounted and loosed during rotomolding production, three major concerns have to be resovled in tooling design and progress, before tooling process starts,
1st, how to make sure, in long term, the inserts and its holders wont wear off the aluminum mould?
2nd, how to design a tightening system helping the operators work efficiently in mounting and loosing the inserts?
The attached two pictures are quoted to show the 1st concern. Though they are not our working, at the early stage of our rotomolding work, we rotomold the molde-in inserts similarly.
But nowadays, we have made two minor and useful changes, one is to add a hardened bush and the other is to make molded-in inserts sit back into moldings a little. Both of the two treatment will prevent rotomould from being scratched or damaged in long term of use.
