BOTU Suspending agent is a colloidal clay mineral composed primarily of magnesium silicate, silica, and crystalline quartz. In salt water, attapulgite suspending agent swells to approximately 10 times its original volume.
BOTU Suspending agent was designed for saltwater applications. It is used for decreasing slurry weight and increasing slurry volume. It is effective at temperatures up to 200°C. Typical attapulgite suspending agent concentrations are 2 to 10%.
