Changing / Removing Cooking PlatesDepending on what type of food you wish to cook in this appliance depends on the type of cooking plates to use.To Cook Toasted Sandwiches, the Sandwich Plates need to be fitted.To cook Waffles, the Waffle Plates need to be fitted.To cook a Grilled Sandwich, the Grille Plates need to be fitted.1. To remove the Sandwich plates, ensure the appliance is switched off and unplugged from the power socket and ensure the appliance is cool to touch.2. Press the Plate Release buttons inwards which will allow the plates to unlock and pop up for easy removal.3. Lift out the cooking plates and set aside.4. Take the set of plates required and locate the tabs into the slots in the back of the appliance.5. Once located, press the plates down firmly until they lock into position.Note: Always use the same two plates together. Never mix plates. (i.e. do not use a sandwich plate with a waffle plate)
Operating InstructionNote: When using the sandwich maker for the first time, the unit may emit a fine smoke. This is no cause for alarm and is caused by the initial heating of the elements.1. Remove all packaging from the appliance before use.2. Check that the cooking plates are free from dust. Wipe the surface of the plates with a damp cloth and dry with a cloth or kitchen towel.3. Before using your sandwich maker for the first time, the non-stick plates must be seasoned during the preheating time to protect the non-stick surface.Note: For the first use ONLY, season the plates by applying a thin coat of cooking oil, butter or margarine to the cooking surfaces and rub in with a paper towel. This is required for all three sets of plates. Exercise care, as the cooking plates will be hot.4. Unroll the power cable completely before plugging it in.5. Place the appliance on a flat level surface.6. Insert the plug into the powerpoint and switch on. The White indicator light will illuminate.7. Close the lid and heat up the plates until the Blue “Ready to cook” indicator light turns On indicating the sandwich maker is now ready for use.Making a Toasted Sandwich1. Put the mains plug into the wall socket and switch on. The White indicator light will illuminate.2. Prepare the bread and filling for your sandwich while sandwich maker is pre-heating.Note: Use standard size sandwich bread to prevent excess overhang.3. Wait until the Blue “Ready to cook” indicator light turns On at which time, the sandwich maker is at the correct temperature for use.4. To obtain an even golden brown result, you can slightly butter the side of the bread which will be in contact with the plate.5. Lay the slices of bread with the buttered side down on the lower cooking plate6. Place your filling and cover with the second slices of bread with buttered side up.
Note: You can toast one sandwich at a time if you wish. For optimal result, fillings should be placed well within the middle of the sandwich slices.7. Lower the upper cooking plate carefully onto the bread until the sandwich maker is clamped then lock in place with the handle clip by rotating the handle.8. After 5 - 10 minutes, open the sandwich maker and check whether the toasted sandwich is sufficiently ‘brown’.Note: The cooking time required to obtain crisp brown sandwiches depends on the type of bread, fillings and your personal taste.9. When the sandwich is ready, unlock the handle by rotating it, open the lid and carefully remove with the help of a wooden spatula. Always use heat-resistant plastic utensils or wooden utensils. Do not use metal utensils which may damage the anti-stick surface of the plates.10. If making more sandwiches, close the lid to preserve the heat until ready to toast the next sandwiches, otherwise, remove the plug from the wall socket and allow to cool down before cleaning and storing.Note: During cooking, the Blue “Ready to cook” indicator light cycles between Blue and White indicating the appliance is maintaining the correct temperature.This appliance has a carrying handle at the front to facilitate comfortable transport. Do Not Carry by the cord.The appliance may generate steam from between the grill plates while cooking and when the top plate is opened. Take care to prevent injury.
